Born in Dannevirke and resident for periods in Wellington, London and Bristol, England, Ruth has lived in Hamilton since 1960. Her interest in art is life-long, but she first took to printmaking when she moved to Hamilton. She joined the WSA in the late '60s and helped establish the Waikato printmakers and the print studio and classes at WSA. From that base she has tutored classes in relief and intaglio printmaking, as well as drawing and papermaking.
Influences on her work include books, poetry, music, galleries, and close art friendships.
