2007 New Zealand Painting and Printmaking Award

This award organized by the Waikato Society of Arts Inc., and held in conjunction with the Hamilton Gardens Summer Festival, is a prestigious event on the National Arts calendar.
The Award is funded by the Philip Vela Family Trust, which each year provide the prize of $15,000 and also purchases the winning work. It is one of the country’s most valuable awards and an apportunity for artists to have work included in an important New Zealand collection.
Professor Elizabeth Grierson, Head of the School of Art, RMIT, Melbourne, returned to judge the Award in February.
