Maree was born and grew up in Dunedin, and moved to the Waikato in the 1970s. She became a WSA member in the nineties, enrolling in various contemporary classes, workshops and summer schools.
She graduated from Wintec in 2005 with a Bachelor of Media Arts and was involved running contemporary art spaces Platform01 and Gallery East in Hamilton from 2004 through 2007. Maree is one of the two co-ordinators of the annual New Zealand Painting and Printmaking Award initiated by the WSA.
She is interested in everything in the visual arts field, working in mixed media (painting) and digital photography. Current work continues on a series of digital photos of landscape models she constructs from memory of the central Otago area.
Maree has begun work on a series of paintings related to childhood memories and the popular childrens’ books of the sixties .
The photos on this site are representative of the work of several different projects of the last couple of years.
