Trust Waikato National Contemporary Art Award 2009

This year's award promises to be a significant event in the 2009 art calendar. Prize money for the winner is $15,000.
The judge for 2009 is Charlotte Huddleston, the Curator of Contemporary Art at Te Papa Tongarewa the Museum of New Zealand. Huddleston is a well-known curator and essayist. Significant curatorial projects include 'Mostly Harmless: a performance series' and 'Linked: connectivity and exchange', both presented at the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery. She has written essays on Ann Shelton, Saskia Leek, Hye Rim Lee and Lee Bul, and contributed to several other publications including the new book 'Art at Te Papa'.
The exhibition of finalists work will be on display at the Waikato Museum from 5 September 2009 until 25 January 2010.
